Little Flower Catholic School & Parish is a private institution in St. Louis that occupies a 90-year-old building. As part of a new initiative to improve the school’s facilities, the Parish consulted with V Three Studios on a master planning effort spanning the next decade. Our team worked with the school, parish, and local archdiocese to identify the needs and goals of various departments then developed a plan that works within time and budget constraints.

The goals of the currently planned addition and interior renovations are to provide a permanent ADA-accessible entrance with enhanced security, improve classroom and office layouts, add modern infrastructure including HVAC and data connectivity, and lay the groundwork for a future large-scale gymnasium addition. All of these upgrades will keep the school modern and competitive moving further into the 21st century.

A highlight of this project includes a new outdoor plaza space designed for crowds to overflow after the school day or during special events. From the plaza, guests can move into the re-worked entry sequence through the exterior addition, which provides a dedicated security checkpoint for guest screening or delivery drop-off. The main school offices have been moved next to this entryway for improved traffic circulation, meaning that several classrooms and the school’s kitchen had to be relocated and re-designed as well.

Further renovations include a centralized HVAC system, a main-level teachers’ lounge with a dedicated restroom, updated data/telecom infrastructure including an intercom/emergency response system, relocated pre-K classrooms, new storage areas, updated restrooms, and various other finishes and improvements. Finally, a new stage has been designed for the school’s multipurpose room, which currently houses the cafeteria, gymnasium, and performance space. The stage features a modular design that allows it to accommodate a wider variety of shows/performances and incorporates dedicated storage for ease of use.
